What's the difference between Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)?
SIL (Supported Independent Living) refers to assistance with daily tasks provided by support workers, including personal care, household tasks, and community participation. SIL can be very well suited to young people seeking to make meaningful connections with others and live independently in a supportive environment. SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) refers to specially designed and built housing for people with disabilities, featuring accessibility modifications and assistive technology such as wheelchair ramps and accessible bathrooms. You can have SIL support without SDA, SDA without SIL, or both, depending on your needs. You can also benefit from other NDIS supports, such as positive behaviour support, as well as SIL and SDA, at the same time.
